How to use it:
The research can be done on the internet, with online articles, newspapers, books extracts, videos, podcasts but also through the analysis of art and design works.
A part from the internet, other sources can be books at the library, movies and performances in theatres, art exhibitions.

The informations should be documented and then compared with the rest of the research to be critically analysed.


When to use it:
The extensive use of this method is usually done in the pre-production phase. At any other point, when I feel I have specific questions, I can use it without sacrificing too much production time.



Reflection:
Gathering informations is a useful process because there will always be somebody who knows more than me about any topic. This method is useful in the beginning of a project to compare how much I know and how much I should still know about something. It can be very time consuming, so there is a certain point when I should consider myself satisfied and start the practical research.
